Stadium Ronaldinho labelled as footballs best atmosphere and loved by Thierry Henry set for Champion

Championship fans can look forward to pencilling in a new, mouthwatering away fixture in their diaries next season. But don’t just take our word for it – football legends Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry amongst many others can do that job for us. John Mousinho’s Portsmouth recently sealed promotion back to the Championship following a 12-year hiatus.Best porn XXX. Pompey led the way in League One for a majority of the season and were finally crowned champions after their last-minute, dramatic 3-2 win over Barnsley. But despite not being in the Premier League since 2010, Pompey’s home ground Fratton Park has stuck in the minds of a number of football legends. AC Milan and Brazil legend Ronaldinho played at the iconic 21,100-seater crowd in 2008, as Milan took on Pompey in the UEFA Cup. The game ended 2-2, with AC Milan coming from 2-0 down to break Pompey hearts. But throughout the clash, Fratton Park was absolutely rocking, leading Ronaldinho to praise it as one of the ‘best atmospheres in the world’. That’s quite something coming from a man that’s played in some of the world’s most iconic stadiums. Another footballing great, Henry, also gave Portsmouth’s home a resounding endorsement. 🔊 Sound ON 🔊💙 Your incredible support got us over the line on Saturday, #Pompey fans pic.twitter.com/loM841rDeL After scoring a double in a 5-1 FA Cup quarter-final win there with Arsenal in 2004, he received a standing ovation from the home crowd. Henry traded shirts with Lomana LuaLua at full-time, and he made sure he put it on before thanking the crowd – since claiming it’s one of his ‘favourite grounds’ ever. «Portsmouth is a remarkable place,» he said. «I know of no other club where, despite 5-1 down in our FA Cup sixth round match, the home fans would have been supporting their team so vocally.» Another fellow former Arsenal player, Petr Cech, also enjoyed his trips to Fratton with Chelsea. He remarked: «I always loved to play at Portsmouth. Although it was one of the ‘worst’ stadiums in the league with the worst pitch. «There was a huge bump in the goalmouth, like a hill you had to run up when a cross came from one side to the other – the atmosphere was always great. «There was the drum, the fans never stopped supporting their team. It had a particular charm.» Even iconic ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sung Pompey fans praises when he was left disappointed by Old Trafford’s atmosphere whilst Manchester United manager. Speaking about Old Trafford’s atmosphere, he smiled and said: «It’s not Portsmouth. I remember Portsmouth – such a small stadium, the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. «In here, the atmosphere is a bit quiet and there is not very [much enthusiasm].» Of course, even Pompey fans will happily admit that their incredible atmosphere hasn’t been as present during their trials and tribulations since their financial troubles in the 2000s. Relegations to the Championship all the way down to League Two led to inevitably smaller crowds and understandably less noise. Their hard core remained though – including the bell-ringer, John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood (yes, he still goes!) Under Mousinho this season, the Fratton Park atmosphere of old has certainly made its return. Fans have been having to battle hard to get tickets for both home and away fixtures as they come together to wave goodbye to League One. We’re sure many fans of their potential future Championship opponents will have to do the same thing if they want to go to the ground that’s loved by so many icons.
